Now with lengthy story! :

A young man walks down an abandoned street, empty save for a hot dog vendor's cart that sits in the middle of the road.  His only possessions were the clothes he now wore, and the baseball bat that he held in his hand.  In the past few weeks, that bat had not only been his only means of survival; it had been his only friend.  As far as he knew, he was the last of his kind.  The sole individual  whose heart still beat.  The only person with the ability to think.  He was the last living man on earth.  Up ahead, he hears a faint noise.  He couldn't decipher what precisely it was, but that didn't matter.  It could only be one thing. As he draws closer, the noise grows more pronounced.  There was no longer any doubt in his mind.  The undead lie ahead.  He cautiously approaches the intersection ahead.  As he turns the corner to his left, he tightens his grip on the bat.  His palms were sweating with anticipation.  A group of people come into his line of sight.  He knew they were people no more.  He draws a deep breath and whistles as loudly as his dried lips allow.  The rotting creatures slowly turn around to face him.  A particularly fat one stood no more than a dozen feet away.  As the undead shambled toward him, the man focused on this one.  With each passing second, the being draws closer and closer.  Soon, the stench of his decomposing flesh fills the young man's nostrils.  But he remains where he is, bat in hand.  The creature was now only a few feet away from him.  He looks into its eyes, and the corpse stares blankly back at him.  He draws another deep breath, now gripping the bat with both hands.  His enemy lets forth a horrifying moan.  He sets his jaw, and swings...
