Top Pixel Art - July 2006 (#1)
The background soldiers' shading style is what caught my attention mainly. Great idea
Looks like a cool perspective version of aoe 2. With animals.
This is glorious! I can't believe it's just 12 colors!
The fog effect is beautiful! I can't stop looking at it.
I remember seeing this about a year ago when browsing pixel art, it was in the Hall of Fame and I was lurking... This piece has kinda stuck with me through that time and been an influence on me in more ways than one. So glad I've found it again. Can't fave it enough. I love it.

Great atmospheric feel. I can imagine myself in the battlefield.
I was taking a drink of water when i saw this, and honestly almost spat it all over my keyboard. This is wonderful. Just the drawing alone is stunning, but if you take into account the shading and dithering, not to mention the twelve-colour palette, it becomes something really special. Also it's Warhammer, so add ten thousand points.
I bet you get sick of it after 5 years worth of adoring comments though, eh?

yes only 12 colours an such a piece...you really made something out of your own with warhammer's skavens!

Hey stickman. It's true I made this when I was relatively inexperienced. It doesn't really do aa well, and I used pure black as the darkest colour, plus some of the colours are "close" together and maybe more contrast would be better, also that metal ball on the rats weapon is maybe a bit attention seeking and pillowish. Plus there is no real sky (need misty clouds). The brown might also be extremish, maybe some cooler (purple/blue) should replace the darker colours. I have even since then made an edit, but after asking big b if I should update it, he said it's better left alone. I think if I did it now, it would look completely different, but maybe that will be a bad thing, because this was made without any pixel "rules" or "restrictions", so I like that about it. Sometimes those rules are only guidelines anyways :D. This picture has many "pixel" faults, but I really like it as it is :D it represents my pixel innocence.

I still come back to look at this piece, when talking to friends and other artists about colour usage in pixel art. Really is a great pic - but I do wonder if there are things that you see now, that you would change about this picture.

Coolcoolcool!!!! I was browsing the top rated stuff, and i saw this i i thought "coolcoolcool!!!!!" This is just so awsome, i love it. You've totaly destroyed my top pixel art list, and youve even made it into my top any medium art list. And trust me, that is hard to get into. So congrats. ^_^
No really, this is amazing!!! So you get my *UberPwnageSealOfAwsome* ....eventually ima pixel an actual seal of awsome.
