This is pretty awesome. My main crit is that you've made the highlights on skin, armor, .. with the same 'consistency' as the flames. Consistency as in the consistency of a liquid - the flames look vaguely sticky, which is okay, but looks weird on other surfaces.The armoured shoulder is an example of this weirdness;
the near hand is an example of good rendering.
In short, some variation in material properties would go well in this picture.

Man, I remember seeing this years ago at eatpoo. It is unclean on a pixel level, but overall I love the energy it has, and the character design is really nice. As shown in Ptoing's edit, contrast would've really brought the quality way up.

hey, thanks everyone. and thanks for crits, but as I said, this is about two years old, and I wont do anything more on it, but yea, probably would have done a few things different if I did it today.ptoing: dont really remember you, recognize your avatar tho. nice to see you again nonetheless. Love your 16 col version, somehow it gets much more dynamic than my 51 desaturated messy cols. ;)

Looks great. However i think this could seriously benefit from some dramatic depth effects. Basically, at the moment the colouring of his closest hand and the top of his leg make them seem they are on the same plane, when obviously the hand is far closer. Of course it's dramatic already, but some higher contrast between shades would be great (or more shades, seeing as it's quite a large piece *looks at colour count* wait a second.. maybe not. It may be possible to recycle a number of the red, blue, or brown shades used elsewhere in the image for the body's shading). Perhaps add some highlights on the front of his fist, rather than just at the edges. And obviously i'd prefer it to be AAd (just lightly), or at least where there are blinding jaggies.
Lol, i think i've exhausted that for now. Good piece, but just doesnt tick every box for me yet.

This is pretty sweet. I'm really enjoying the different blends of shadings all meshing together, especially with the light of the fire have an effect on the figure itself. Wow, really original and awesome. I've always wanted to do a tarot card series with my characters, since I have so many. Back to the pixel art, I think you could totally improve this by messing with the outling and making it less defined. Even though it's an old work, it has a great amount of potential. ;) Let's see some more!
