Mockup of a NES screen, the underground cave of the apes. Dangerous apes, I might add, just look at all the bones. GIANT bones. The guys who are there right now are probably scared out of their wits, seeing how even giants have fallen at the hands of those apes. I actually wanted to use a few more tiles for this, but work has been in the way of pixel fun for some time now. :) For anyone interested, I actually put together a NES ROM image using these graphics, not sure how well links work in the description, but it's available over at http://carnivol.the-horror.com/APES/apecave.rar (NES emulator NOT included, but I doubt you'll have any trouble finding one. Approximately 2.3KB download)

Ah, sorry, I completely missed that message! Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. :) It was really fun to get back to BOTH pixeling and NES development, even if the latter was only for a short while. :) EDIT: I just realized that I got my first favorite ever, too! Awesome. :D

i check that file... my gosh, it works... i dowloaded a sprite editor for the SNES, i thoung i wopuld be as easy as copy/paste, just to realise is almost impossible.

just the ROM you made is all the reason that why you should win this challenge. 3/5+1 for the ROM makes you got my 4/5.

Thanks! And I wish it were that easy. :D I used to make homebrew NES stuff several years ago, so I picked up my old DOS tools (tile layer, NES screen arranger, x816) and started coding away. :) I reused some of the code (mainly name table and palette loading) from an old single-screen demo I made. All of the graphics are minty fresh, though. As minty fresh as 4-bit NES graphics get, anyway. ;D (I actually added in a few sprites for the .nes as well, felt like animating the torches.)

Wow... great stuff... btw, how did you make that image for the NES? did you just save it as .nes or something?
