Yeah, I'm actually working on the game now. ;) Writing the engine from scratch, these graphics just serve as placeholders and encouragement, heh. Recycled the moon/clouds from my old platform mockup, makes the background more interesting. Haven't written a bitmap font loader/displayer yet, so the score looks pretty lame.

Just thought I'd upload this seeing as I haven't finished a pixel piece in quite some time.

Oh, I'm using some alpha transparency effects in the engine, so the colour count in this is huge.

There's like 10 layers of parallax in this shot, I might upload a video of that later.

The score font looks a little lack luster when compared with the rest of this piece.  I agree that a wider palette would help define the action in this piece.

Nice work, I particularly like the diagonal "milky way" stuff happening in the sky.

just a thing here, try to make the hero ship's colours blend in more against the enemy ships' colours. If a lot of enemies get on screen at once, you might just lose track of where your ship is in the fray.

Otherwise, its a very nice screenshot.
