The edit is better, nice job. I think you should make the snake a bit more interesting, but I like this a lot.

I lost that tshirt! *cries*. It's actually quite dark blue btw. :P
Anyways, this is lovely! Never actually thought of it like that (as a head on a body).
I think the bomb and snake need more contrast. The snake is too dark generally so alot of it's details are lost. On such a small sprite you should probs exaggerate some of the details more too, perhaps a larger jaw for the bomb etc. Nice work though.
