Thanks surt. That's why I said it was made up of "individual 16x16 tiles" Although I can see how you guys got confused by the name.

In spite of the title (should probably say mock-up) in the description he says it's not a single tile, so if that is the case it as a whole needn't tile well.

When tiled in Gimp I noticed a rather repeating
pattern that gave the impression of stitching.
I have made a rough edit which hopefully will
help you in finding a better tile: LINK

the texture isn't bad, but it will never tile well. Too much change over the whole thing.

Nice, but seems a little dark and monochromatic.
If you add blend colour between the two darkest that should lighten the image a bit and smooth the transitions. You've got a free palette index for 2-bit so you may as well use it.
Adding a browny grey tinge to the darkest could help indicate that there is dead-grass and soil under those leave.
