whoa great job, although, the color on the feather should either cover the whole feather or none of the feather.

Lol. Very nice!

Sorry man !

Anyway, I hope to see more of these pics in this style from you :)

The B.O.B. (Level 10 Master Sniper) at 12/16/2007 8:23:10 AM
Actually, the feather is hanging off his ear: It's off a string that's attached to the black gauge/disk in his ear lobe, if you look a wee bit closer...oh, and he is wearing a dog collar on his neck as well...

Stickman (Level 4 Deputy) at 12/16/2007 3:30:36 AM
I like the set up of this scene very much. I'm wondering about the feather though. It's just the way that it's positioned as I don't know whether it is hanging of him, or floating in the air.

Just out of interest, would it work if the feather was attached to his ear, or if the cigarette was made yellow instead?

Anyway, it's a really nice piece of work :)

He was shot in the neck with a feather dart? Man that bird is naughty..

The mouth looks a bit odd (to me), perhaps you could add some lips and posibbly lower the mouth a little. Impressive work though by the way.

Great edits, I love how you moved the yellow up to the feather.  It seems some people are getting confused about the bird, so maybe you could try making it more cartoony and less realistically shaded?  See if that helps.  You be layin' down dem pixels fly, yo.

Grayscale with color,looks good.

Fel@ Its a er...feather...

Fel (Level 4 Ensign) at 12/15/2007 11:22:01 AM
What's the new yellow thing near his neck? I know there used to be a yellow bandana tied around his foot. Either way, exceptional piece.

Morgengrauen (Level 2 Quiet One) at 12/15/2007 7:13:27 AM
your work is great, b.o.b., but what the heck is the guy under me talking about?

The B.O.B. (Level 10 Master Sniper) at 12/14/2007 1:27:43 PM
Thanks Doppleganger. The bird itself isn't supposed to be realistic looking, but moreover, like those 1970 cartoon type birds: you know, like round fat balls, with flowers and love, and what not. The yellow bandanna, however, you may be right. I still can't get the bandanna the way I want it, to look realistic. However, in a more recent piece/edit sent over at pixelation, I've made some changes in that the bandanna was changed to black and white, and the feather gained the yellow color...some people thought that was better, but I thought it lost some symbolism, as some gangs express their existence through colors and clothes(bloods where red, cryps where blue, etc.). It's not a deep message though. I wanted it to be more of a simple chuckle piece. Kinda' like a clash where the 70's era bird meets a new culture of 80's punk/metal... But again, my simple artistry is not near the level of expertise to accomplish this, from what I can tell from the responses, so looks like it's back to the drawing board for me...

Thanks for the critiques, everyone!

The composition is great, as is the character.

I think that the yellow stands out a great deal, which is obviously the intention but, to me it detracts from the picture. It looks like you picked the two things you had the most trouble pixelling and made them yellow.

The bird is excessively simplistic and gives the impression that you don't know much about the form of birds (compared to the realism of the rest of the piece). And the shading on the bandana leads me to question whether or not it's a bandana. Of course I know because of your topic on pixellation but, to the untrained/unknowing eye it could just as easily appear to be three yellow blobs stacked on top of each other. The bandana just doesn't convince me that it's three dimensional or part of the scene.

Aside from that I really enjoy this scene. You've really captured a mood in it and that alone makes it a worthy piece.

Great piece!
The yellows look great and give a great symbolic accent.  I do however think you could have made the chick a tad more realistic. FAV

love it <3 but needs circles of smoke coming out of his mouth ; )

Obviously made for me.

Doomcreator0 (Level 6 SWAT) at 12/9/2007 2:57:05 PM

Amazing job. Great touch with the yellow accents compared to the dull gray.

DeProgrammer (Level 4 Button Man) at 12/9/2007 12:53:14 PM
16 colors and amazing realism. I love it. :)

I was instantly reminded of birdie and duck king =P the smoothness of the guy's arm bothers me, since its about the only place on this picture that isn't dithered, as does his lower left leg, but maybe its just the way I'm looking at things, great background work, and nice picture overall, could see it as an ending picture in a game =P

Reo (Level 9 Executioner) at 12/9/2007 12:14:06 PM
Great work,I thought the bandana was a banana first

surt (Level 10 Maniac) at 12/9/2007 12:05:34 PM
Amazing piece.

Guy's left arm looks a little awkwardly posed, when I try the pose I'm only comfortable with the elbow place further out on the leg and the elbow region looks a bit too rounded given the twist of the wrist.

You could probably do to run your eyes over it again in mind to AA. Top edge of bandanna against shoe, top edge of left bracelet particularly stand out in my eye.

I think the yellow on bird and bandanna work to tie the two parties together.

Malor (Level 4 Button Man) at 12/9/2007 11:36:41 AM
the yellow accents are a nice touch. Personally, I would have just had it on the bandana, and left the...cute birdy... black and white.

soda (Level 9 Vice President) at 12/9/2007 11:15:32 AM
Fucking amazing stuff.

Lollige (Level 9 Necrophiliac) at 12/9/2007 11:04:49 AM
whats the stuff on his feet? Well nice picture anyway, but thats nothing special for you ;)

greenraven (Level 5 Killer Klown) at 12/9/2007 9:56:24 AM
Is the bird supposed to look like a ball?
