Psychotic_Carp (Level 1 Depressed) at 3/17/2008 5:19:36 AM
omfg this is excellent! I still have to look through your stuff and sometimes it hurts :(

Darth Mandarb (Level 6 Serial Killer) at 3/8/2008 12:46:02 PM
Somehow missed this one ... holy smokes!  Excellent work ... even if I'm late to the party!

Talos (Level 4 Lieutenant) at 3/3/2008 4:50:26 PM
Love this piece. Can't believe I hadn't seen it befor. 5/5 + fave.

Acherhar (Level 5 Soldier) at 2/24/2008 8:15:14 AM
I followed this piece since the beginning, and I have loved it every step of the way. INSTANT (yet very late) FAVE.

sharprm (Level 1 Rookie) at 2/21/2008 7:46:08 PM
Wow, so many revisions. It looks great. I would say the front triangular sail seems odd, since I thought they usually had that one rotated 90 degrees to yours.

new-age-reject (Level 1 Depressed) at 2/17/2008 3:33:43 PM
Wow, this is amazing!
And only 29 colours? Superb!

horcy (Level 2 Corporal) at 2/16/2008 12:49:59 AM
OMG superb. Amazing scene

xXHalfieXx (Level 3 Sergeant) at 2/5/2008 12:25:30 PM

Very well done...

don't have the patience for something like this.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 1/14/2008 8:39:33 PM
a link in the description to its actual placement in the pixeldam would be a good idea Jal.

dogmeat (Level 7 General Manager) at 1/14/2008 9:57:53 AM
Awesome, love all the dogs in the image, but the image itself is magnificent.

Froli (Level 1 Rookie) at 1/13/2008 7:46:44 PM

Very very nice job.

jalonso (Level 11 Godfather) at 1/12/2008 2:51:32 PM
crap!
I have now taken this back to the WIP thread and starting all over.

*thank you all so much

inkspot (Level 4 Button Man) at 1/12/2008 2:40:12 PM
Actually, yes, zweck made an excellent point there. Sales should be packed! Ahhhhh, finnally, hahahah, pwned!!!!1 This piece is no good anymore!

FlyGuy (Level 6 Made) at 1/12/2008 12:47:14 PM

This is a masterpiece! No flaws, I really love this man. You are the KING of ISO!

exocet (Level 5 Captain) at 1/12/2008 12:10:24 PM
Now that's nice title :)
I see you've worked a LOT on that picture since we were in touch. The end result is really impressive, you managed to pack so much in such a small picture, while keeping everything immediately readable.

Reminds me of those picture books a la Wally/Waldo you can spend hours to look at and still discover new things!

Zweckform (Level 1 Rookie) at 1/12/2008 11:46:53 AM
Oh now i see something else which i think is also odd...the sails look like the wind blows into them, while the water is quite like a lake...the sails should rather be packed away or sag.

Just some  idea here.

Doomcreator0 (Level 6 SWAT) at 1/12/2008 9:44:30 AM
Sarcasm perhaps?

Feron (Level 5 Sniper) at 1/12/2008 6:48:27 AM
Inkspot, you must be insane. Nothing but praise from me :)

inkspot (Level 4 Button Man) at 1/12/2008 6:42:28 AM
This crap is total waste of space.

d-p (Level 10 Maniac) at 1/12/2008 5:31:38 AM
Ah, I give up.

miscdude (Level 1 Private) at 1/11/2008 11:53:19 PM
lol, reminds me of the Treasure Island Hotel shows.great job man, so much detail is squeezed into this small pic.

Zweckform (Level 1 Rookie) at 1/11/2008 10:52:16 PM
Reminds me of the pirate ship i owned when i was a child..:-)
The part with the cannons looks a bit odd, but i cannot tell you what disturbs me.

BUT i actually like it veery much. The theme is well catched and its all done in a lovely way. More of such stuff pleeeease!

Dra_chan (Level 8 Shodan) at 1/11/2008 10:43:19 PM
OMG AWESOME!!This quality is what every iso pixelartist should aim for. Perfect colors, well shaded textures and lots of details.

Doomcreator0 (Level 6 SWAT) at 1/11/2008 8:00:02 PM

Don't know what else I could say about this piece.

Gas 13 (Level 9 Federal Agent) at 1/10/2008 9:34:31 AM
I'm impressed how it was reworked several times :) Enjoyed the ghost ship and the one with lack of dither. The final result is wonderful. Inspiring.

FrostPumpkin (Level 5 Killer Klown) at 1/10/2008 9:30:56 AM
Very very very very cool ! Good iso is rare here, and this one is a pearl.

Adarias (Level 7 Colonel) at 1/10/2008 8:04:58 AM
I smell a number one ranked FOREVER here.

Large, whimsical, colorful, isometric, painterly, storytelling, for pixeldam.....and not to mention top-notch execution.......

it's now I wish i rated pieces more often sos I could give you more than 7 stars.

MashPotato (Level 6 Made) at 1/10/2008 6:34:14 AM

wow, thats immensely impressive!

Equilibrix (Level 5 Captain) at 1/9/2008 11:21:36 PM
Wow jalonso, it's really beautiful! I totally fell in love with this piece! There's so much detail, I would spend hours staring into the picture and still don't get all of it! And only 29 colors? How could you do such an amazing piece with this low color count? I try to think of any crit, but can't find one! It's just incredible piece of pixel art! All hail jalonso

zi-double (Level 7 Assassin) at 1/9/2008 11:12:36 PM
Jal concratulations for patience - this is what every pixel artist must have as much as possible :)

About piece - I don't want to comment much, because all your ISO works are as source of inspiration for me :) For me was very interesting how you put so nice peoples together with building in so small size, but with your combination they look as they are in right size - well done !

Vertigo-Zero (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 1/9/2008 10:15:13 PM
You finally finished it :D gotta love it :) 5/5

AdamPlays (Level 6 SWAT) at 1/9/2008 9:55:12 PM
They can learn new tricks, but it takes them twice as long.

DJD (Level 4 Button Man) at 1/9/2008 7:58:05 PM
The piece in itself is wonderful in all aspects, but the work you put in greatly overshadows it. Honestly it's arguable you made two or three completely different pixels in the creation of this final product. That's some dedication jal!

Elk (Level 1 Depressed) at 1/9/2008 7:55:02 PM
wow jalonso thats cute

Frost (Level 4 Murderer) at 1/9/2008 7:16:27 PM
Yes, yes and YES! You have managede to get me to like isometric pixelart. :D
I don't really know what to say about it except that the best about the picture is prbably the choice of palette and the worst part, that can be worked on a little bit more is the two dogs. They look like two sprites ore something with their lack of shading. Especially the one near the water...
Congrats for the effort! ...and yeah, a whole barrel of respect!

flaber (Level 1 Seaman) at 1/9/2008 7:09:55 PM
couple of things still could be cleaned.
like BOB mentioned the sails. I still think they are too blue. But you gave your reason as to why.
Lots of progress and improvement was made on this.
can really see the effort put into developing something new, and something past your previous talent.
like I said, still some places here and there. but eh, lets no worry about it.

great job again.
i really do quite like the amount of revisions and learning you did with this project. Rather than just cranking off another image, you wanted to learn and develop yourself with this. I quite like that.
its a keeper.

Faktablad (Level 6 SWAT) at 1/9/2008 7:08:27 PM

It's finally done!  Banzai!

I see some pillow shading here and there (like on the seals), but I love how nicely unified the palette is.

Jimmy Bojangles (Level 1 Rookie) at 1/9/2008 6:59:06 PM
This is amazing. The amount of detail put into this is stunning.

soda (Level 9 Vice President) at 1/9/2008 6:54:04 PM
Amazing stuff.  Worked on it so long, definitely payed off.

Blackbeltdude (Level 2 Kukyu) at 1/9/2008 6:08:06 PM
After staring at this for a while, I've found something that might look better if you adjusted it... that platform where the barrels are is so light, that it looks like it's kind over the fence that really in front of it. Because of that, that one section seems a little odd. Removing the orange shades from it would probably make a good difference.

Aside from that crit, I like this a lot. :) There's a lot of awesome texture and activity going on here, and your dedication to this piece is an example that all pixel artists should try to fallow. :)

Feron (Level 5 Sniper) at 1/9/2008 6:07:25 PM
definitely paid off in the end.. you can definitely see the hard work. awesome!

HMC (Level 5 Killer Klown) at 1/9/2008 6:06:05 PM
That's lovely, Jal. Good job.

Doppleganger (Level 5 Rokkyu) at 1/9/2008 5:58:26 PM
Woo! This is ace stuff. I'm impressed by your iso skills every time you submit something new.
For whatevever reason the sidewalk enthralls me the most. There's so much going on and the assortment of colors on the actual sidewalk is really exciting.

I'll agree with B.O.B. on the thickness of the sails. I checked out this topic a while ago and the sails struck me as different than I remembered. B.O.B.'s statement brought to light what my thoughts were on them. I think that they're probably just overtextured. They used to be much smoother I think.

Fantastic work! Fav'd for iso greatness.

The B.O.B. (Level 10 Master Sniper) at 1/9/2008 5:53:23 PM
Finally submitted it, eh? I like, and the textures, though a bit dirty, are still great. I love the way you handled the textures on the house. My one concern is the sails, and that they seem so thick as to the way they've been pixeled. Maybe less colors, to give it a more fragile/cloth type feel?

and the water is gorgeous...

ThereIsNoCure (Level 11 Godfather) at 1/9/2008 5:52:00 PM
Old dogs really can learn new tricks : P
Seriously Jal, this is great, the time put in shows, and this blows even your previous work out of the water... er... no pun intended.
10 stars +fav
HE'S STILL GOT IT, FOLKS!

greenraven (Level 5 Killer Klown) at 1/9/2008 5:46:45 PM
HUZZAH!!!

What took you so long?

Seriously though, kudos on the nerves of steel bugman, kudos.

FrankieSmileShow (Level 6 Manager) at 1/9/2008 5:44:29 PM
this might just be the best iso piece on pixel joint yet! Awesome work, jal!
