Thank you for your favorite. And this piece... WoW... It's really really well made. Pixel art scenery at its best!

Slemsvamp (Level 6 Serial Killer) at 12/30/2008 4:36:46 AM
Oh god, how do I miss these? Awesome!

lytron (Level 4 Team Leader) at 11/30/2008 6:33:06 AM
The sky reminds me of Van Gogh's "Starry Night". It somehow seems to consist of many many lines. Do you know, what I mean? Is it just me seeing this in your picture? Anyways, even without an actual Van Gogh reference this one is BRILLIANT.

Victor Rojo (Level 5 Detective) at 11/17/2008 4:02:24 PM
great great, perfect work!

Arkun (Level 1 Depressed) at 10/18/2008 7:44:19 AM
Beautiful pixel. I especially love the color of the light, and dithering.

NotDex (Level 1 Rookie) at 8/25/2008 5:40:14 PM
So I can make the favorite count even. :]

loaderror (Level 1 Rookie) at 8/25/2008 6:33:04 AM
It's a beauty! I like the colours and dithering. Also it isn't so cartoony which is a nice break from the norm.

Josiah (Level 8 Marshal) at 7/11/2008 5:32:10 PM
Thanks again everyone.

meiji1990 (Level 1 Gangster) at 7/8/2008 7:37:47 PM

Packrat (Level 7 General Manager) at 7/7/2008 12:09:11 AM
You just killed me with that. It is stunning.

Raytheon (Level 5 Lieutenant) at 7/6/2008 11:59:38 PM
As i've said TWICE now, absolutely brilliant work, but the path doesn't seem like a path, it looks more like water.

natsukilove2 (Level 1 Rookie) at 7/6/2008 8:04:27 PM
I love the color and the calm but mysterious feeling of this piece. ^^ The sky has a look almost similar to that of Starry Night!

Lollige (Level 11 Psychopath) at 7/6/2008 7:21:10 AM
The composition and the colors make this look like a real painting! It does not really feel like pixel art (there is no doubt it is!) but that does not make this less beautiful!

Mirre (Level 6 Serial Killer) at 7/6/2008 3:48:50 AM
Very impressive! I really like the colours you chose for this one, and the composition. That sky is so beautiful too.

Tre Le Coco (Level 1 Thug) at 7/6/2008 12:34:10 AM

Zenassem (Level 1 Rookie) at 7/5/2008 2:57:48 PM

Josiah (Level 8 Marshal) at 7/5/2008 2:43:58 PM
Wow, really thanks a lot everybody.

@Arachne: Thank you so much for the critique, if I ever start another landscape I'll make sure everything is more correct next time.

Arachne (Level 4 Murderer) at 7/5/2008 1:19:53 PM
I really like the mood of this. The palette really makes this scene. However, I think it could be polished more, and the big empty space could have been filled with something more interesting. Right now, the trees serve as a kind of frame around the least interesting part.

Landscapes are not easy to draw convincingly, so I'll mention a few details I think could help make it look more natural. Trees, and especially young trees, have gaps in the foliage which let light through to the other side of their crown, so don't think of the foliage purely as a solid object. You would have clusters of brighter leaves mixed with darker ones in the dark areas you now have, and gaps where you could see the sky. Leaves lit from behind are also very bright. Looking at some reference might help. Another thing is that clouds reflect a lot of light and disperses it, so I don't think you would have as prominent shadows as you have now. The more clouds, the fuzzier and brighter the shadows will be.

In any case, I think it's good work. I hope we'll get to see more atmospheric pieces like this in the future.

Wonderful!
Quite an improvement, really.  Also great colors and all.
Only crit is that the dithered bit doesn't really sit with the style of the rest of the pic.

This reminds me a lot of Frank Sauer, the guy who did loading screens for Agony by Psygnosis.

Blueberry_pie (Level 7 General Manager) at 7/5/2008 2:19:24 AM
The sky kind of reminds me of Van Gogh's work. Very impressive :)

inkspot (Level 4 Button Man) at 7/5/2008 2:13:31 AM
I like the atmospheric and handcrafted painting feel of this picture, so its faved. But I not so much like the odd composition.

Phrozen (Level 1 Intern) at 7/5/2008 1:33:56 AM
Gotta love that effect of little strokes in the sky
