You can tell what it is, I'm sure, in the generic sense--however, that planet is obviously not Earth. It's Zebes, from Metroid, before it became horribly polluted and orange (as seen in Super Metroid) probably for the title screen of Metroid Genesis. This is probably my most realistic-looking pixel art, and I owe that to desaturated colors, dithering, and shadows. Also, I made it quite a while back but never liked the clouds and simply quit working on it.

Well, I still thin kyou could improve it a lot. Now it looks pretty dull. You could also spice up the space with more stars. Just dot out random pixels with various intensity in the color.

Nebula. Heh. Yeah, I agree with the atmosphere idea--that never occurred to me! And the "space cloud thingy" (nebula) is actually just two colors taken from the water. I could probably improve that with more colors, and besides that, nebulae are packed full of stars. :)

Great shading on the planet but i think it needs an atmosphere to look more realistic. Also the background space could use more work. Especially that space cloud thingy.

Thanks a bunch! Ironically, I based the planet (as in the exact shape of the continents) on a 3D model I had previously made in POV-Ray.
