I chose to use a cherokee story about the creation of corn.

but there are many ways it can be told so, I just tried to get the jist of it. I kind of rushed near the end, so I hope the people are readable.

This is great, especially the trees. You've managed to use the ugly palette well. However, as you said, the people aren't really readable.
