There are zero "elitists" sayng this is bad or doesn't qualify as pixel art.
Honestly for every time that somehow a discussion about this whole incident comes up, even 12 years after the fact, this still actually qualifies as pixel art and it amazes me to this day that the whole situation gets referenced every now and then.
Had I been younger, I might have agreed with some elitists, and yet seeing who I am now I actually kind of relate to younger Paul Robertson after having been through a similar situation earlier this year for different reasons (go fig)
ANYHOW PUTTING ASIDE MY PERSONAL FEELINGS I don't just want to randomly bump this topic to say that but what I will say is looking back on some of Paul's works there is one thing that I will say knowing that he's probably not gonna read this but honestly this isn't a bad piece as a lot of people made it out to be then and given some of his other works have been more prominent in the industry over the past few years of knowing the name one of the things that I like about the guy is that he animates like a fucking beast in some of his other works and I don't think that his style is the absolute worst upon reflecting on the controversy and how a few other members felt then.
Was his reaction strong? perhaps, but honestly, hoping that now he's a bit older and more experienced maybe he would have changed by now. Shame he ain't here but hey, hoping that he's alright.
Very wesome piece
Fuck the guys that say the thing with the color reduction :D!
They are too obsessed with videogame specs
great work
o_O wtf with the color discussion... this is like a rly colorful piece, it'd look shit with only 32 or something.
WOW! A real discussion with P. Robertson? I'm not agree with the idea of the less color use. I preffert to think that pixel art is just done with basic tools like a mosaic done with 1x1 lego pieces. Doesn't matter the color if it fits in a GIF, in other words, (256 colors max).
I still doubt abot probertson account in PJ. Can he draw something exclusive for the site? Or enter in some weekly contests to show us his real art? Or bring some WIPs?
Perhaps not here, however there have been in other places outside of Pixel Joint during the time of this situation that kind of gave him a bit of noteriety amongst some stemming from this. And that's why I'm speaking from a more past tense at the beginning.
I say this having seen some posts from members in other communities *coughpixeltendocough* that don't really have much to do besides some of them having an account here that haven't directly posted in this chat discussion.
