Thanks for the feedback, I think a full character re-design will be in order soon. It'll pain me to have to do all his animations again but it'll be for the best, since I have plans for a full game I'd rather get him right sooner than later.

agree with preceding statements about main character, he doesn't have "character" in the same sense that bubbly video game characters should. Compare him to the most similar association, Gex. Gex had a personality that we normally wouldn't expect of an animal (suave and articulate) and looked unique in the sense that the normal Gecko design contrasted the idea of the tuxedo, creating something exciting and unexpected. In the main character you have a relatively static and uninspired design, which is lessened moreso by other regular baddies that are of equal or greater originality. Try adding more unique elements to the character to give him some pizazz. Also, you really should change the angle of him, all the other characters in both mockups are tilted somewhat, and the fact that you can see his back foot from a side on view just makes him seem like he's got a short leg. Honestly I would really consider a full redesign or another idea for the character to give it some strength, but since this is clearly already in the development stage that sort of rewrite would be inappropriate. Good luck though! You prove to possess originality and talent with all the other components of the piece.

 I think the main character suffers from being less detailed than the other monsters. If you spruced him up a bit, it'd be even better! 

I really like the tiles though, but you already know you're good at them  =)

Darn seems people aren't liking the character too much, do you not like the character design? Or just the way he is pixeled. I'll have another go at him sometime.

shivudhamu - I made the game using Multimedia Fusion 2. I'd like to learn a proper language sometime but it'll take too long right now, MMF 2 allows for a speedy creation process.

 Amazing, character doesn't look as fun as everything else, but I'll check out the demo soon to see if he's much cooler than just his looks.

Really amazing! Especially the second screen. Tiles are very smooth, not to mention that palette is brilliant! And everything is put togheter well by precise linearts and forms.

Most of it looks excellent and very professional but I find the player character to be quite mediocre and bland.  He just seems outdone by the quality of everything else.

Well I can't just play this awesome game and not leave any comments.

It was a massive pile of FUN. I enjoyed finding all the secret areas while having my eye pleased with terrific pixel art candy. The colors are so great and subtle and pleasing to the eye, and the overall design of everything was pretty amazing.

The excellent composition, especially in the bottom screen, is comparable to the best of kirby platform levels, and they've been working that formula for some time. Congratulations on incredibly effective pixeling!

I love the visual style. I'd say it definitely "comes together as a cohesive whole".

Use Z or X to select since those are the default buttons, sorry my fault I should have made that clearer.

I'm using Vista, I did download the game but only the welcome screen works for me, i can flick from play to quit but the enter key doesn't do anything, nor does double click, am i missing something?
