My first piece of Pixel Art ever. 

The character design and outline really sucks, but I mostly meant to try my hand at pixel shading and dithering, so I made him really simple-looking. 

I will definitely try to do something better for my next piece, because I actually had a lot of fun making this and I want to turn pixeling into a hobby.

Anyway, constructive criticism is very much appreciated, and any tips for my future Pixel Art endeavors will not fall on deaf ears.

Thanks for the comments guys, and I especially appreciate the criticism, kuph.  I've already started working on my next piece, and it is going to be a lot different from this one.

I suggest you mind the saturation of the colors you use: more saturated colors for the head highlights, less saturated colors for the clothes. The way you shaded the character doesn't seem natural, especially around the head. PixelArt is very much like any other sort of drawing method in the way that you do need to have a few notions about shapes, lights, compositions and such in order to produce "good" art. Keep this in mind, and may the pixelforce be with you.
