I'm really surprised more people haven't entered this challenge. It's been really fun. I've quite enjoyed working in the oblique perspective. I actually was planning on doing more screens for this, but seeing as I just barely finished now, I don't think I'd be able to.

Anyway, it's a mockup of a fictional RPG spinoff of the fictional Toc's Tale Series of platformers, the first of which I actually tried to make in Multimedia Fusion 2, and failed miserably.

Supposedly the story goes that Toc, after the events of Toc Under the Black Moon, was whisked away to another world through the Cosmic Blue Gate. A world full of lots of dialog and side view turn-based battles and multiple party members. Along the way you fight against Tic the Wizard, who's gained power and a snazzy new cape after following you through the gate.

And yeah.... that's it. I'm done now. Enjoy.

I love this picture! :D 5/5 +fav.

Dino502Run (Level 1 Depressed) at 10/16/2009 6:01:32 AM

I feel like it's a real game screenshot.

Kaiseto (Level 6 Made) at 10/15/2009 6:48:01 AM

You're in luck? Because it doesn't. I don't quite remember what I picked. But it isn't tahoma. Mostly I just wanted something that was pretty plain and readable. And easy to antialias by hand.

momovampire (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 10/15/2009 5:27:25 AM

This piece has so much charm. Nice Genesis-esque colors and GBA-esque art style. Now, if only it didn't use Tahoma for the font...

raphael_kox (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/14/2009 5:44:34 AM

Man awesome graphics!!

Hey, i use MMF2, but the only thing that keeps me from finishing anything are the graphics...i'm more of a programmer than a spriter...

if you want i could do something to help, just tell me exactly "how" you want it to be, i'll make an engine...mabye you like it

'cause sure its too sad that these graphics dont go in an game...

Shrub (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/13/2009 12:58:40 AM

Awesome. Really professional quality.

OSM (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/13/2009 12:16:08 AM

My only complaint is how flat the trees seem. Other then that, this is absolutely wonderful. Great choice of pallete, everything is very readable, just lovely.

Ninja Crow (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/12/2009 2:20:32 PM

Wow, another great piece, K!

I thought only Hoshi Itsuki could capture this style so well!  But you do it so consistently, and seemingly without effort.

I cannot even begin to express how much I love this GBA style (the greens, the blues, the simple yet evocative patterns) and how I'd play it in a heartbeat.  In fact, if it were to be a real game I'd volunteer my programming skills to build its engine, without hesitation.

But for now, I'll simply vote for it enthusiastically!  Thanks for the great piece.

Artic (Level 4 Shichikyu) at 10/10/2009 8:27:05 PM

I love it! The colors and everything is nice

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 10/10/2009 7:49:03 PM

pkjo (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/10/2009 10:33:30 AM

Looks like this would make a pretty cool game. Great work!

SuperPanda (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/10/2009 6:07:58 AM

love it :)

sharprm (Level 4 Deputy) at 10/10/2009 5:24:00 AM

i love the portrait. the rest looks great except maybe perspective of side view creatures (ie. their feet don't follow perspective) but maybe in game there would be platform levels which reuse sprites?

.Anubis. (Level 3 Hatchet Man) at 10/10/2009 4:10:39 AM

very very nice, i think the tress could have used some more work though, don't look as good as everything else.

RollerKingdom (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/10/2009 3:55:31 AM

Hawt ;D Got my vote!!!

Manupix (Level 5 Assistant Manager) at 10/10/2009 3:54:47 AM

Just wonderful!

Maybe the composition is a little bit off, I'd like to see a little bit more pixels of the bldg, at the expense of ground.

Satsume (Level 7 Underboss) at 10/10/2009 2:21:42 AM

great work,really. =3

orenshtiv (Level 6 Yonkyu) at 10/10/2009 2:10:40 AM

Morgengrauen (Level 5 Killer Klown) at 10/10/2009 1:25:47 AM

Kaiseto (Level 6 Made) at 10/10/2009 1:17:06 AM

Jalonso, your avatar reminds me that it would be appropriate for me to do a halloween themed pixel sometime soon.

xXHalfieXx (Level 4 Lieutenant) at 10/10/2009 1:16:12 AM

pure win

jalonso (Level 11 Godfather) at 10/10/2009 12:58:43 AM

Oh, those blues ^.^

Setzer (Level 8 Cannibal) at 10/10/2009 12:41:37 AM

Nicely done! I've fooled with the idea of entering this but just cant seem to get it going to draw tiles. Great colors and stylish effects. The sand especially is simple and doesn't make sense but still somehow works, as are other parts, making for a really nice mockup. My votes on this, but then I dont think there were any other real completed mockups done
