I would totally give this a try if it were a real game. Leonardo is one of my favorites.
Would be n awesome game, maybe not super action packed but would have a prof. Layton feel... Which I love...
oh yeah I lost net access before seeing this get finished, I followed and piped in on the WiP thread from my old account, turned out pretty damn good
Remembers me Zelda Minish Cap.
What fabolous art, i am very impressed.
I wished I'd have played a game like this during my GBA time. I really like this because it's modern game design with old art ideas and it looks beautiful. The colors are also remembering to oil paintings but also to modern gba games and this shows the perfect middle way. If I won't fave this I'd lie to myself.
I really like your old master mockups and also your current Van Gogh WIP and because of this you are one of my favourite artits - I sign this with a fave.
I think your are the authority on mock ups... this is fantastic!
Amazing work, as always. You take pixel art to levels I've never even dreamed of.
This looks like a game that I must either play or bury myself in a hole and die.
7/7 and speechless.
There is so many pixel pieces in galleries that Im missing a lot of true pearls.
Heh, There's really enough content there for a small game :)
Oh my goodness I saw the Engineering Journal and the first thing I thought was "Dark Cloud 2 except even more awesome". Jal, I love you.![]()
amazing! i went to your WIP thread and read that there isn't eany true black in your palette. I would never have enough skill to be as good as jal :( 5*
Well you are in Florence and you where you want to fly is selected is what I thought...just a mockup.
I have a question:
In the 3d screenshot, the one selected is supposed to be florence? because florence is not there, it's souther.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence
Anyway, awesome! I love the font, and the puzzles idea, and the fact that leonardo is a cutiepie
This should be a game!!!
I would buy it for sure :D
This really, really, really needs to be made into a game... I wish I knew how to program <sigh>.
The level of detail is paralyzing me! I love the "world scenes". And the castle is so damn awesome! WOW! ![]()
Yikes! What a shock, I hadn't looked at the thread for ages.
I love Mona so much. I wonder what the utterly useless invention can be. And I'm perfectly happy about the Engineering Journal. =)
Italy looks like a lake surrounded by land, I love it that way.
Only problem I have is with the open legs in the title screen, because of interference with the text they look weird.
Edit: Italy as a country didn't exist then, so the northern frontier is anachronistic.
Love absolutely everything about it!
It's come a long way since the initial doodles :)
It's always fantastic to see faked screenshots here that make me want to play these games! ;)
Is this in a tileset? If so, it'd be pretty cool to see that too.
This is eye candy..Good job. Looks like it would be an neat game, got a lot of interesting little perks, too.
holy hell. nice work, old man. your skills have obviously gotten better from the last time i was here.
I just spent over fifteen minutes staring at this. <3
This is AWESOME D:
I lol'd hard at the "I will pose for you but first bring me..."
Seriously, get a programmer.
I'm not keen on the sprite style and find it quite offputting but I do love the work gone into all the details and shading of the tiles and stuff.
The amount of work gone into that seems huge.
Love the buildings.
I am speechless. The colours and mixing gives it the artistic feel perfectly. I especially love the map screenshot!
Great job, you should seriously find a programmer to work on this!
I actually don't know what the first/second is. I only see Dali and this one.
Nonetheless, I thought I would add that the perseverence of you and the community is what really makes this stand out. Looking through the thread, I can see the clear progress that made this the mastery that it is.
Incredible work! I haven't even seen the second, but Dali was phenomenal, and this one floors me! I knew you were a great artist, but Hot Damn! you really pulled out all the stops on this one. Kudos to you!
yey!
haven't followed the wip thread in the forum, but damn, this must have taken forever to pixel. so much yummy details. especially diggin' all the little items that are spread all over the screens and florence's buildings & pavement
Pitch it! This needs to be made for the DS!
Ooh God.
That's impressive.
Vitruvian man looks awkward compared to the rest though.
The darker slabs in the gardens are too dark in some areas, it could be improved.
But God....
10/10 and inspiring... By this we love pixel art ^^
Very awesome. Character sprites remind me of Minish Cap.
You gotta finish the Picasso shmup some day, though. :P
The pallete and the clean look are very professional. Big thumps up here.
Gorgeous! I really would like to play all your game mockups. <3 <3 <3
Followed this piece in the WIP thread and am seriously amazed how this turned out right now, excellent job - but i suppose you know that yourself anyway. Your mock-ups are constantly getting better and, as already mentioned once, I'm looking forward to an Escher- or Magritte-themed one. Any chance that you might ever create an actual game?
Outstanding! Design, concept and especially colors are all great. How the hell do you do it?
Seven hundred and twenty-four by six hundred and forty-six.
And yet, nary a single pixel that isn't perfect.
Dang it, J, my medical insurance doesn't cover such situations.
I want to do more than just call out my favourite parts, so I guess I'll agree with Adam and say the Vitruvian Man's face doesn't look like the sketch (please disregard if that was your intention).
I'm going to favourite this and study it for a long long time.
I've waited all day to see this in full resolution(Saw it kinda on bro's mobile at work). So yeah, just brilliant man!.
Mother of all mockups! And, yeah...those tiles are snazzy. :)
I loved the "You found a puzzle" part. You can feel the happiness of the character as he finds the puzzle. It makes me feel like solving something... ![]()
Great piece!
Wow! Fantastic piece! If you'd worked a bit more on the face in the title screen, I'd say perfect.
no way!
Can't say anything else but "fantastico" :)
Totally love the streets of Florence and the puzzle game (reminds me of Prof. Layton). The only thing that I would have worked a little bit better is the Gioconda, but who cares!
Heh, that's interesting and inspiring. I love the way you bring historical art into the game again.
This is too awesome, would love to see this in an actual game made using RPG Maker :p

SO STYLISH! Are you a game designer?
