Yes, I'm a dithering fool.

This is a rework of a fairly recent large pixel piece. I always felt something was missing as far as the shading went, and I'm really happy with this mega edit, cos believe me, it took a while!

Check it out and compare for yourself

Thankyou for the great raps, both Blick and st0ven. I've updated the slightly, in an effort to fix some of the problems mentioned. I really appreciate the feedback guys, especially yours st0ven. I'm not sure how intentional the charcoal effect was, but there was a definate look and amount of detail I wanted in this character. Thanks again.

Its really interesting how your subtle hue shifts in your dither patterns  give this entire peice a colored charcoal type look to it. The intense yet smooth dither patterns gives the illusion of the grit on the type of paper youd use for charcoal, and the highlihgting with white in certain areas (predominantly the lips) while dithering in with that skin tone actually make it look like it was colored on... COLORED charcoal paper.  Some of the actual  line work in there looks a bit too deep where it should possibly be a bit more subtle (like in the legs near the knees and calf muscle and how the socks overlap the skin of th elegs), but chalk it up to style i suppose. Awesome demonstration of the power of dither

It really reminds me of Ptoing's earlier stuff. This thing is pretty much perfect, although I don't much care for how his thumbs are so deeply outlined, same for the definition in his calves through his socks.

Wow, this is a really different piece now. All I can see when I look at this is the amount of time you threw into this bitch. Amazzzzzin.

Yes that's a huge improvement! I always felt a bit sorry for this great line art of yours because your "rough" shading looked a bit unfinished and rushed.
Very well done!
