I don't think it works, and it becomes too slow.
And it seems to be even slower here than on GraphicsGale...
You can try a 4 frames cycle with the shooting part which are exact the same but the hair moving 4 times, it could work even if I'm not a great animator
I tried, but because there's only two frames, it's kinda hard to make anykind hair movement without it looking crazy, and I don't want to add frames for this, it would make the actual shooting too slow.
Of course, if anyone can prove me wrong, I'll try something.
It's nice but i think that a bit of movement on the hair would make this piece really complete. I like the light effect, it's nice and gives a professional touch.
About your edit: never ever use 0.01" frame delay!
Some body recoil is necessary, probably more horizontal than vertical. You might have a gunfire burst with recoiled but static body, followed by a slow return, that might solve the timing issue.
Best option is to redraw the whole body, rather than move parts around.
