You did wonderfully shading. The detail on the stairs alone blew me away.
very very amazing work, it looks so smooth and not pixellated at all, very good job and instant fave'd :)
Fave'd. Defintley an incredible piece and one of my favorites.
you're completely right, everything works. 37 hours well spent ![]()
It has a beautiful "painted" feel, love the warm colors that brings it to life and definitly captures the sandy Egypt look.

I havent seen this before. Nice work on that AA. Your dithering is a bit "laggy", but goes. 5/5.
This piece rules pretty damn hard. Plus, I am quite the fan of egyptian gods.
You could have made it to 18 colors easily, though. More dithering and whatnot.
Jaker_Pot: Nope :). I have a tablet now, but didn't when I drew this.
I like it because it looks like it`s a little pit sketchy nice i love it![]()
Wow. That is completelly awesome. I love the stairs and bandages.
Awesome work on this, I feel that you probably could have scraped a few more colours away with a little more strategic dithering but I can understand that that's a pain. For a 5 year old piece this is beyond awesome.
/absolutelly incredible! This art makes me crazy here. Congratulations!
wow this is amazing.......it dosent even look like pixel art looks like some graphics program made it.....that is pretty awsome to achive a pixel art that dosent look like it was pixel art lol hope you get what i mean 5***** nice job
Really amazing. The lighting effects are brilliant - very inspirational.
Love it :) He's got this smirk going, like he knows exactly what he's going to do at the top of the stairs and how he's going to do it.
A question, however: what are the rounded squares doing in the background? I see hints of two of them. Is it the texture of the wall behind him?
One more thing - the light source seems to be staright over to the right if we go by his clothes, but the shading on his body makes it look like it's to the right and towards us a little bit.
If that's the case, then shouldn't the front of the staris (the part we see) have some definition?
Over all I really love it. Anubis is hotttt.

Fontes: A good critique is hard to find. Thanks so much for your clear critique!
I've just done a basic paintover with some framework lines and confirmed some of the things you mentioned. At the time, my anatomy skills were quite lacking, so I didn't necessarily interpret the lines correctly (in terms of shading and line weight) (though I wonder about the original right (our left) arm -- i think it looked wrong in the same way in the lineart)
I'll do an update as time permits.
Very nice piece indeed. The shading and overall coloring is plain perfect.
However, there is something that bugs me, and that's the body itself. Anubis, like any other egypcian god, had a perfectly normal (visually) human body, and this piece shows little knowledge from you in human anatomy. The muscle lines are overall messed up, specially the thighs, which look pretty much like lumps of meat, instead of actually thighs. Specially the right (his right) one, which seems like someone has taken a chunk off of it. That, and by the right leg, we can see a rather odd connection between the legs and his hips, which is a tad too low.
The same can be said about the upper arms, specially the left (stretched) one. I swear, at first I thought the elbow was the shoulder/upperarm intersection. If you ignore the forearm, you can notice that the bicep area resembles more the muscles of a forearm, which is what confused me. Then I noticed the bandages, and thought "hey, that's for much for the wrist!", hehehe...
Also, the weapon's stick... Cross a line along is, and you'll notice parts which should still be visible from behind his arm. Sorry, i don't think i can explain this one very well... ^^;
Still, as I said before, the shading and coloring are top notch, which is why I'm shoving this one down my favourites list! ^^
Ooh, the texture of those stairs...I LOVE IT! :D 5/5
this is legend...u got alot of patience
i love it![]()
Must've taken for ages, Outcome is briliant though :D
Excellent to hear from you!
I've updated the blurb accordingly :)
Oh wow. Ok I wasn't expecting to see this ever again!
I should explain, I'm 'Archer', or used to be. I drew the original lineart years ago - 5 years?! I can't even remember where I posted it, perhaps it was over on the Gamemaker forums? It's so great to see this again! Neota you did such a fantastic job, I remember you asking if you could colour it. I agree with all the comments here too. You deserve that award!
This brings back many memories.
Of course if nobody believes me, that's fine. Craziness I know. Although, I'm an Illustrator now, perhaps that helps prove my claim somehow?

Nice one, you didnt overdid it with the dither it's perfect ! I like it how you made the muscles flow in his bodyparts, wonderfull man !
That is So. Awesome. I love the stairs.
The cloth behind him looks...odd. It's flowing/moving (I think?) but the front part isn't, along with anything else that would move (hair/tassle-thing, for one). It almost looks like it's coming toward us, as well. I'm not quite sure. But...yeah, that is so cool looking. XD
o_____O!HSHAJKS!
that is AMAZING! the detail, and his weapon--! the walls and the colors---...just breathtaking and aweinspiring *bows*
The best I have ever seen of all Pixel Art! I'm oddly impressed by the colors and feel of the whole thing, not to mention the pose is amazing and Anubis is my favorite icons of all.
Wait a minute, what are those random lines I see on the wall, near his ear?
