Cheers Clovvach and Carnivac! I'll probably give this a little tidying after the challenge is all voted for :)
@Manupix
I was right, just tested 'saving+loading' vs 'copying+pasting'; on copy+paste color info is lost AND artefact similar colors get introduced (highlighted by trying to 'fill' a block of color), whereas saving the palette and loading it up the image is preserved. I can't pretend to know but I'm guessing the temporary image data might be stored as a non-PNG format such as JPEG. This is on a Mac btw, PC may differ.
SImply awesome... the part where his left cheek blends to his neck goes out to far, but not enough to make me not vote for it!
In other words, this got my vote!
It must be something with PS color management settings then: Edit > Colors.
It's not easy to find the correct settings, esp if you do critical stuff other than PA. I had a look into mine, there definitely are settings where copying colors between images with different color spaces results in value changes.
Best option might be to activate all warnings and decide case by case. Trial and error.
Make a screen cap of the settings box if you want and I'll give you my opinion, although I'm certainly not pretending to understand color management. Here's mine.
Did you fix any that were wrong? If so, thank you! Otherwise though they all turn up correct in the checker there. The link was dead yesterday when I tried to use the checker :(
Any ideas btw, I copid and pasted the palette into pshop and picked my colors from it with the eyedropper, each block of color had a few colors with very similar values in them- think that's due to lost info in the copy/paste?
Merci monsieur :), and good point, the jaw line does not deserve that attention - I might tidy it up once the voting is over next week - I need to break out of my dithering habits some more, something I'll keep in mind!
You're welcome! Came out quite good, although still overdithered for my taste. The isolated pixels all along the black/blue border are especially distracting; on the chin too.
Wow thanks, it was shaky but I'm glad I persisted, I ended up taking a lot from this challenge :)
I liked watching your piece come along too, the background is funky and the shapes clean - that posterized style is nice!
Looks good! I enjoyed watching your progress on this on the forum. I also thought of Andy Warhol when I saw the colors, they would make great for some screen-printing. Anyways, I dig it, and you have my vote ^^
I´m with Carnivac, the use of the palette is very interesting, I dont know why, but this piece remember me a Goya self-portrait
