Golden Mockup; perfect HUD, great palette, and I love the restrictions, the doors and the atmosphere, and the avatars head rules.
(Only for crits; I don´t like the soldiers against the players, they are in a different perspective and the design is too simple. but only for crit, anyway is a really really great work, so Fav. ^^ )
Thanks! Man, I have a piece that's inspired by some of your work sitting in my WIP folder. I should really finish it. To answer your question, kind of but not really. I'd like the game to be 256c, but making it exact is probably too much trouble. I sprite in GraphicsGale, and the palette window has 256 slots, so that's an incentive. I'm trying to keep it down but will add more if I have to.
Great work so far! Are you working with any self-imposed color restrictions?
Hmm, interesting idea! It could definitely look cool animated. I'm not sure what I'd used to represent--it'd have to be something affecting both characters--but I'll definitely consider it.
It was supposed to be decorative piping, yeah. It might be clearer if I had more pipes elsewhere like I originally intended. I like having something over the corridors to separate rooms and didn't wanna do doors, but I'll see about revisiting them.
Thanks for the crits, everyone! I'll definitely take this stuff into consideration when I go back over it. I'm gonna change the preview a bit when I update it, so keep an eye out for it.
I agree with you there, but is there anything specifically that could be improved? I want to push this more but am not sure what to do.
I like it very much and can't wait to see working version.
As for cyborg girl's helmet I think it looks too much flat on the left. I'm not sure bt maybe those pink dots are too much circle and should be rather ellipses. Don't You think? Maybe it is really about shading - especially that top left shiny part.
I agree with TheInquisitor about the pipes.
Speaking of that HUD centerpiece. That drawing under the head looks like it could be opened. Maybe it could indicate some changes in game (casting spells or something) with opening and glowing.
And once again: can't wait to see those pixels in action :-).
It's decent though I like the HUD far more than the actual game stuff.
The texture on the wall is good, just saying a little jaggy in some places. Another thing I noticed, and this is small, but exchange the top and bottom line of pixels on the grate tile, that way they won't clash with the other ground tile to produce 2 dark pixels in a row (top) or two light pixels in a row (bottom)
Great work, Peri. I like it all expect the bronze pipe-like piece that stretches horizontally across the corridors. It looks too cartoony with it's sharp dark outline and seems to be more lazily pixelled. The shape of it doesn't really help either. If it is supposed to be piping, the wiggly shapes makes it unclear as it what it actually is. If it isn't piping, then I can't tell what it is.
I like it very much , the design is very cool , really good work :)
Well, the crap on the walls was supposed to be texture, but yeah, I can see how it's a bit much. I really do need to fix that roof crap, too. It's banded to hell and really messy. I'll revisit it when I go back to working on tiles.
I agree that the mirroring is pretty obvious. I'll definitely see about breaking that up.
This looks like an RM2k3 game, but I'm actually going to be using Game Maker! It will play sort of like the GameBoy Zeldas, except you have two characters at once.
Thanks! Yeah, I have this nagging suspicion I should get rid of or greatly reduce the HUD centerpiece, but I love it to death and spent forever on it, so I'm attached. Besides, I'm not sure what I'd put in that space if I got rid of it. I dunno, I'll think on it. Kill your darlings, as they say. I'm thinking the eyes will change color if you get low on health or one of your people dies or something, but that's about the only game function it has.
This is great, big fan of cyberpunk and rm2k3. Great tiles and lighting, my only gripe is the kind of loose pixels on the wall tiles and some of the rendering on the border, and the obvious mirroring on the border. There could also be some more tightening up on the roof too.
This is so nice. Great atmosphere. The HUD centerpeice seems a little much though. Draws the eye too much. If it has an integral game function that's not so bad.
You're gettin' good!
awesome
