Reminds me of some of my favorite games. :) I love the yellow window on the red turrets.
Great improvement! I would brighten the red infantry a bit, they don't have the same readability that the blue units have (due to the red ground tiles).
The simplicity is great here, as well as the color selection. And yes, it reminds of Dune 2. )

The ground still looks flat, you might give it some volume with a few highlights.
