I saw this in the documentary Dear Mr. Watterson and recognized it immediately. Great job!
This is what Watterson was trying to prevent when he retired from the comic and became a recluse--he knew the world couldn't handle the awesomeness of this game and was trying to save all the people whose heads would explode. Good job.
Too bad its the last day of this being on the front page...I have loved seeing this all week long when I login.
Here's hoping for a surprise on the Monthly Top10
So beautiful!
It really does feel like the comic books.
Also, I posted this elsewhere in a "show off art your found thread"

In case you want to see what others think
That is so cool it makes me want to cry ;D
This should be made into a real game :D
Yes. YES. YES!
Might've benefitted from another parallax layer behind the midground, but otherwise great. Love those bouncy walkcycles.
I logged in just to fave this. great translation of the inking style to pixels.
Ho-ly crap. My favorite characters/comic in the world made into a game? I would die, but die oh so happy. As others have said, you translated Watterson's style into pixels PERFECTLY. Thank you!

Man, you totally nailed the style! Incredible! The more I look at this the more I like it. Great memories attached to Calvin and Hobbes
This is Brilliant! Love the comics. You grabbed the style really nicely!
Wow, perfect interpretation of a pair of favorite characters!
Great piece! Really cartoonish.
Have you tried not to scroll the whole dithering pattern of the ground? It may ruin the feeling of movement a bit, but it could be more comfortable for the eye.
Incredibly great, stylish and with a lot of goodness . I want to play it!
Thank to all of you <3 ! I'll try to imagine some levels (like the Spiff Level, and definitively a Snow level)
I really love how you captured the overall style of the comic.
I've wanted a Calvin & Hobbes game since I was a kid! I imagined it being more like Mario 64 but this looks amazing. Such great and perfect representation of the style at such a small resolution. Hobbes can't be taller than 32 px and that's impressive!
Fantastic!
My only suggestion is maybe stagger their walk cycles by a couple frames.
Yes indeed. But I chose that way, not so shocking for a fake game ;)
You could always combine sprites, no? There are many games on the Genesis with A LOT bigger sprites.
@ptoing : You're right about Hobbes, he should have been taller, but the maximum sprites size of the Sega Genesis is (normally) 32x32 pixels. I cheated a little bit ;)
This looks really nice, tho Hobbes is a bit small. I think he is taller in the comics.
Aside from that I have to say that I really highly respect Bill Waterson for not wanting to have ANY merchandise of Calvin and Hobbes. I think there is one T-Shirt they made for an exhibition at the MOMA, but that's it. Everything else you can buy with C&H on it is illegal.
Wow, this really is great. I too love the dithering. I kind of like the version on your website more, the one where the characters walk through the scnene. More my preference though.
@Jalonso: Thx a lot! (I looked at your work: it's absolutely amazing !)
This is awesome! From the start screen alone I can envision the whole game... it has made my day!
The dithering (could have used a little more) is actually a smart design choice as it evoques a newpaper comic print style.
Perfectly pixelled --- fav'd
this is very nice! I just don't like the dithering in the background.
This is an excellent translation of the comic's style. Welcome to Pixel Joint!
Nice dithering job :)
