Good concept and perfect animation.
Is amazing what you show in the wip. Very interesting way of working in a sprite.
Most of the stuff I do is tiny, but that seems like a really interesting process. I think next I'll make something that will give a chance to try this out.
Thanks :) this is the first time that I animate such a big sprite with wide movements, so I was a little lost at first and didn't know how to start. That's when I had the idea of the wireframe, I don't know if it's the most efficient method but it helped me to have a global vision of the movement and the timing before starting to draw the actual frames (as you can see on the WIPs, I stopped using the wireframe when I started the wings, but that's only because I had a good vision of the animation in my head at that time)
I like the wireframe WIP. I'll need to try that some time.
This sprite is quite lovely. Only real thing I'd fix is the red - deepening it to match the official art a little better and at the same time giving it more of a sinister edge. Even without doing that, the palette is rather nice. The animation is also fluid and has a lot of great secondary animation going on. Splendid work!
I really wonder why 3D is the generation "upgrade" to a lot of games...even portable games.
It sure can't be an aesthetic reason.
3D replacing pixel art makes me sad.
