nice, i like composition on that one and overall mood :)
- a little more light (i mean white ;) there and there could help a bit
I think these are my favorite kind of trees. Monochrome palettes are fun to paint with too. I have a lot of different black paints made from different pigments, and they all handle differently. :)
Thanks :)
I've tried that method of developement for a few things and it seems to work well for me, even though there's often a lot of cleanup and stray colors to hunt down since I didn't define a palette from the start.
This is absolutely inspiring. I really appreciate the monochrome palette and the awe-inspiring visual of the trees away toward the sky. And of course, your foxes are always lovely. <3
This piece is flat out powerful. Inspiring to see just how easily you've developed a wonderful concept, and presented it simplistically and effectively. Beautiful work =]
I've never read that, but now that I look at it I recognize it from an ad for it on another site.
Such a phenomenal atmosphere. I would say this deserves to be in the top 10 for sure.
Yeah I have a thing for forests. I was thinking yesterday of what my next project should be and I was like "Well how about this, I'll make a for- oh, wait." If I do another forest any time soon I'll probably try for something different for variety. :)
This is a masterpiece! So much character, fantastic mood! Well done.
The tall trees, rays of sunlight... I knew it was you even before clicking the picture!
It's a bit similar to the one in the forest but real nice anyway.
Thanks ^_^
I used to have two cats and my sister now has two dogs. Sometimes even real animals can be weirdly human. We like to make up what they're saying or thinking. :)
This is really great, and now one of my favourite pieces on PixelJoint. I'm a sucker for fantasy, especially those including animals with intelligence and human like traits. Well done!
Very charming.. I like lightining and the snow particles.
Lovely. I'm really looking forward to seeing that scene on a boat down the river at sunset
omg they are having a tea party (^3^) Really wonderful piece!
Oh man you'd love it! It's a wonderful movie about tanukis, Japanese folklore, and tradition vs. modernity.
The light is something I wanted to do better but what I had in mind, vague and blended beams like these, is beyond my ability or at least my patience. I did try it though, but maybe some other time. The way they are is more like "let's just go with that." They're not really hitting anything in particular, even though I did darken the rays on the right side of the animals. Next time I'll try not to be as lazy with the light. :)
Beautiful. Thanks for linking to an extended commentary on your blog. Very insightful and inspiring! I wish more people would do that.
(Out of interest, did you intend for the strongest sun beams to land somewhere behind the animals, or on the animals? At a glance, it looks like they're caught in the sunlight, but the ground around them looks a bit flat in terms of lighting.)
Ahhh, this is beautiful. Reminds me of Pom Poko.
For a couple of weeks I've been looking at it and thinking it'd look better with brighter highlights, but I normally try not to change something after I've posted it. I changed it just now though and the lightest color now has an L value in Lab colors as 87 instead of the 77 it had before.
Also apparently I miscounted before and it has 13 colors, not 14. I remember something being odd when I first indexed the colors since for some reason I had expected 14 and it only showed 13. Looks like there really is 13. That's what happens when you make up the palette as you go, I suppose. :)
