He looks far friendlier now. I like it, that way he has more character.
No worries, chap! Glad to hear you like my chatter.
Actually this piece inspired me to do a skull myself, have a look ;)
Yeah, you're totally right about that highlight on the stem (I deleted it to oblivion :P)
Thank you so much for the feedback, it is always incredibly valued!
Very smooth looking piece!
I really like that you stayed away from any reference and put all that 'personal' effort into it.
You can tell that you have developed a certain feel for shapes and shadow placement, for example by looking at the nasal bone and the shadow that is drawn by it.
The rose is a very nice addition, fits the piece quite well! Not much to criticise here. Hmm, maybe you wouldn't see a highlight on the stem since it is within the mouth.
The anatomy is not spot on, however you can easily tell what it is.... a green skull of pure malice with a soft spot for romantic endeavours.
Good one! :)
Aye, I edited the teeth a bit, I think it doesn't stand out as much but I could be wrong!
Thank you for taking the time to edit it ;)
I took it a step forward by moving the eyes down one more pixel from your edit, and also made the rose red (not sure if that was a bad idea or not). I also worked on the nose socket thing after looking at a few skull pictures and added a neck (which may still need touching up on).
I quite like that flower, even if it's just an addition.

I hope you don't mind that small edit moving the eyes, nose and the forehead a bit. It's far from a perfect placement (and messy since I didn't clean up) but should give you an idea of what looks out of place (I think the eye-sockets and nose-hole could even be a bit more down than in the edit). I'm sure there're more proportional errors but these are itching me the most. Also imo some of the shadings in your WIP are more exciting than in the finished version.
It's not bad working with references, especially for something like this.
Hmm, is it the forhead that looks wierd? I'll try to see what I can do about the teeth!
"The one thing that I'm the most happy about is that this is 100% original, meaning I didn't need to look at other people pieces to get help like all my other pieces."
I think there should be no shame in looking at other people's art for reference. What lets down this piece for me is the shape of the skull, this could've been fixed had you referenced a decent piece. After all, why should you have to reinvent the wheel(hypothetically)?
Also the bottom teeth stand out too strongly compared to the top, making it look really out of place. Still, for no references you've done well, keep at it
Thanks man! I wasn't so sure how a pure green palette would work out but I'm really glad you like them!
