LOS ANGELES — James Doohan, the burly chief engineer of the Starship Enterprise in the original "Star Trek" TV series and motion pictures who responded to the command "Beam me up, Scotty," died early Wednesday. He was 85.

There's a sequel Sedge.. Trekkies 2. They do some follow-up stories and stuff but it's not as funny as the first. I think they actually meant this one to be serious

I only saw a couple of the movies, but he always seemed like a nice fellow.  In that hilarious documentary Trekkies he seemed to embrace the hardcore fans which is always nice to see.

 He was my favorite character on Star Trek.  WHo could ever forget "Scotty go rich, she can't take much more of this Captain!!!"  Rest in piece...
