From challenge winner snake comes this week's challenge.
Rework an old non-pixel drawing/painting of yours in pixels.
A reference image link is required for this challenge.

Rules:
Colors - 16
Canvas Size - Your choice
Animation - No
Transparency - No

It's kind of embarrassing that I don't have time to participate in my own callenge... Hope everyone has fun at least. Looking forward to the results.

You can pretty much define 'old' as anything...just make something from an existing painting/drawing...I think it should be alright as long as you made it before the challenge was announced.

I may attempt this. I remember a unicorn I drew when I was really little..I was proud of it..pretty sure it looks really bad now. xp

All five are made by newly joined members who probably submitted them accidentally to the challenge. Though I don't understand how they could get through.

Yup, 5 out of 9 entries did not meet the requirement to have a link to the original image (and I just reported them all).

It almost seems as if some peeps are just checking the Weekly Challenge box without fully understanding what it means...one of the entries has like 126 colors.

I think its more people are slacking on checking if entries meet the requirements (I noticed a few like that with the last challenge)

It looks like half of the current challenge entries are missing a reference image link to the original picture.

As to the "can it be a collaborative effort" question, the answer is "hell no".

Well, depending on the point of view, excluding just a small group of digital art such as pixel art means that the larger group is allowed. I also think that 'old' means: 'made some unspecified time ago but not made strictly for this challenge'. And I'd say that 'rework' means do ANYTHING with your work without making a completely new one.
But until our challenger says something we can't be sure.

Does drawing or painting include computer drawings and paintings?

Does rework mean trace and color, or completely redesign?

tomic: So next time you're home at your parents place your task will be: digitize all your old stuff and keep it on your harddrive, because you never know when you'll need it.

i'd have to invest 1 hour driving 100 miles to my parents home and 2 hours to comb through the attic.. my mum would delay this with meals and stuff for at least 3 additional hours and driving home again would cost another hour.

7 hours for a reference. hmm, no time =)

Does "rework" mean "make a pixeled copy" or "make a pixel-art that somehow resembles the original image"?

Surely most people have, at very least, some finger paintings from when they were 3 years old.

Or if the worst comes to the worst - draw something now...and then start pixelling it in 2 days time.

Well I do, so who cares!

And how old defines old? I just started drawing like two years ago, so I hardly have any really old stuff.
