It was a pleasure to collaborate with your community for this. Thanks to everybody who partecipated and congrats for your works.

to Metaru:
yes, it was about the artform in particular (focused on iso), as jalonso said.
I know there are a lot of good pixel artists around here that have not been featured into the article, but when I first wrote on PJ forum about the article that was going to be made, the topic and the collaboration request was addressed to everyone who wished to partecipate here. After that, of course, I couldn't use works made by people who had not given their permission for that, even though there were many many works that deserved being featured.

to tomic:
I'm not sure if you are referring to the website or the magazine (or both), in any case, I don't think that kind of comments, by themselves and without an argumentation, can give a positive contribution to your community.

pop art ftw.

Yeah, metaru, the average person in the street thinks PA is only iso. Even on sprite boards, there's a tendency to call game graphics "sprites" (even if they're tiles or big portraits), while the words "pixel art" are reserved for iso stuff, as made popular by eboy.

I saw a book some time ago on pixel art, and all the works inside were things I could easily create. News flash, but I'm not one of the great pixel artists of all-time. What are mediocre works that wouldn't even get a weekly showcase here, doing in a book?

to the average viewer PA = eboy ^^

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 8/30/2008 5:43:08 PM
thought you said they reviewed the PJ gallery.

to the average viewer, PA = sprites. even the article describes it as "this kind of art recalls the graphic of old video games".

but well, guess when you want to ilustrate the artform you want to show the best examples that, indeed, break the common idea that PA is limited only to sprites.

It wasn't about the people or even PJ. I think it was the artform that was important.
Ackowledge that to the average viewer, PA=iso. It certainly is the most obvious.

but PJ =/= Fool Jal. we had mash, lar, helm, tomic, bisque, and a dozen more of awesome artist here also. it may sound a whine, but its quite... well, i wouldn't be PJ if the Logo wasn't on the first page of the article.

they desperately need some print design consulting. i always thought that kind of frontpage and background design was banned by the geneva design convention back in the days =)

When they reviewed the PJ gallery they focused on iso because its the most popular pixelart form, I think. Proof is going thru fool's gallery and choosing his only iso.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 8/29/2008 11:59:21 PM
hey jal, as far as I readn the article, only you, zi and fool's work were featured, and gas13's was mentioned only due his iso tutorial.

not to mention why they only showed Iso works :S
