skooba-dude Bio:

The first game Skuba/Corey ever played was probably pokemon yellow on gameboy color, he cannot remember if he played the nintendo 64 before then or not. Ever since games like pokemon on gameboy, where he could see the pixels, Corey has been fascinated by these drawings and animations. Ever since about 5 years old he was drawing cartoons and such, although at about age 11 and 12 Corey started to grow fond of Rpg maker which his older brother had dicovered from his school and downloaded to their computer. Around this period of time is also when Corey came across Nitrome, a game website with outstanding graphics. After this he thought he would have a go at isometric drawings and small sprites. He drew these on a program called Idraw3, which he downloaded for drawing on Rpg-maker. Very soon after he stumbled across pixeljoint and took a look at the gallery. He was amazed by the peices on the site and was stunned at what could be done by hand on a computer. He signed up and started posting pixel art, while studying the default RPG-maker characters and sprites. As he progressed he found even better types of art, along with anti-aliasing and then dithering, and started to study the pixeljoint art and use trial and error to get similiar to what he wanted. Now it is 2009, Corey hopes to someday be able to produce such work as Bisque, Paxjah or Cocefi.

Sorry if some peices looked rushed but I have limited time on the computer and I easily get bored if it takes to long

so perfect, I think her arms are just a lil bit too small. I love the dog's eyes. Cute peice

Knew it was yours, I reckon the fringe should bounce a bit. Very fun colours.

You did a great job on all of them, that gameboy colour is very good too.

extremely awesome, but take away the background.

I really like this, the stylish hair, the pose, and the sword. KUTGW.

you are talented. I like the colours you have used, and the realistic heart would probably ruin the cutenness of the peice.

Chris- do you mean to put some metal shine on his head or change the glass to a metal frame or something?

Too unoriginal for me, reminds me of Ryuzaki(L), I like the colours though. KUTGW

It's very good, I think the banding(AA gone wrong) gives it a blurry effect. I like the colours, but I don't think you can just 'downscale' the detail image for the preview. KUTGW.

Oh.... I just realised how he is standing, I thought it was just really abstract. I think it might be the difference in tone between the abs, or the line between them, I though they were an arm. I like it a lot though, I wouldn't mind seeing more of these ' fun little peices' with 'not much effort put into them' KIU-keep it up=)

something about the anatomy, just doesn't look real, can't quite say though. The hair is a real work of art.

Why use a dark outline for the hair but not the neck and shoulders? Great work overall, better than anything I could produce in pixels.

Humans: The not-AA'd parts are jagged selectively, to show where black fur meets white. 'The AA is too dark'-If you change the AA colour to lighter, you will find it actually makes very little difference, and can actually look worse. I will agree that it can be a little bit lighter, I did pick the first gray I had on my pallette and stick with it.

Thanks for the C&C though, any comments on the line art, cause that took longer than the AA=).

Tets, mockups are just a drawn picture, made to look like a real game. (This game doesn't exist)=)

If the main sprite can shoot, you should show that on at least one of the screens. I like the title screen.

also, Rollerkingdm makes a point, maybe you should outline the enemies+items and the character with the lightest shade. KUTGW.

I like this, but prefer the last one, that doesn't mean this one aint good.=)

You need to make a panda bear one. BRING BACK THE PANDAS.

I like it, if only you added a bit more shading and detail on the tanks it would be a hit.

THe title screen is very gameboy-ish, I think it would be possible to run a fast action game with a lot of work, especially if the screen scrolls around.

I love how much it changes through one level, it seems like a game where you want to upgrade stuff so you can see what it looks like. eg ratchet&clank series. KUTGW
