Vampire :: Pixel Art Detail

 I love everything on it but the hand, it is quite large. But I still love it, I would hate to meet him though, he kinda scares me..

I like everything but the shading on the  forehead

I love this, because the shading is so simple and effective, and although the hand is too big in the front and too small in the back, you pulled off the effect of closeness quite nicely :) Great!! favved.

I like! You know how to use the precision of pixel art on a large scale to achieve some really nice effects very well. I do think that the hand looks big rather than foreshortened, but that actually struck me as a character-design feature at first, crab-man vampire mafioso.

If you're looking for critique, here are some thoughts:
I guess that the shirt colors could be spiced up with some subtle tinting, his right shoe looks a bit squashed, and to nitpick, the pink below the eyes could be replaced with the middle skintone color (both from a color conservational view as well as preference, I don't think it works too well).

I could have sworn, as I saw the preview image, that this was going to be a Nick Cave portrait btw :). Looks very much like him imo.

You have such an unique style...I instantly recognized it as your own! Props for that!

The hand is off, so what...the blood stains just made the piece to me. Also, how many colours have you used? I haven't counted them, but it looks like you conserved a lot, which is awesome!

Anyway, an easy favourite!

THE KAPPTIN: Valid points, and I can totally see why you don't like the piece. To  tell you the truth, I'm not too fond of it either. :P What you say about the hand being over sized is very true, the perspective doesn't account for it, at least not properly. I tried to make the extended hand follow the extreme perspective, but left the legs untouched as in a normal portrait, which basically contradicts the idea of an extreme closeup perspective.

zAk: Yeah, vampires and the mafia, they go together like peas and carrots. It's also a nice analogue.

jalonso & equinoxx: I'm aware of the jaggedness on the legs. The outlines really don't work on a light background. They wouldn't be such an issue were the background darker. I was intending on doing a proper background with an Italian restaurant,  but dumped the idea after I got so carried away with improving the character itself.

FlyGuy: Actually the lighter velvet on the lower eye lids are ambient light from the eyes, but it's nice to see that they can be interpreted differently! :)

Apparently I'm the only one who doesn't really like this. There are a few things about it that bother me. One is the big hand. It is much more detailed than everything else and it doesn't seem to me that perspective could account for that size difference. The other thing I don't like is his shirt. Just the way you've done the lines and shadows on it doesn't make sense to me.

I especially like the face, hairstyle, black clothing, right hand, colours. A cool piece overall. I just don't agree with a few things.

You know what really makes me like this picture? The fact that his lower eye lids are thin like glass or plastic, and you can still see the red eyes through them.. That is fucking awsome.. The blood is bitchin, and the suit is just as cool... AA it and I bet it could be part of the Hall of Fame.

vampire-mafia? Pretty damn weird, id say the suit is really great, it looks smooth, dark etc. I also like the shoes... But what i think should bother you is the size of that hand! Its huge! The rest is really beautiful!

it is rather jaggy around the legs, but apart from aa there's not much you could do about it.
Love the foreshortening going on as well

I don't know, but the colors look awesome to me :). Also a great amount of detail.. down to his golden cufflinks :) I like the angular shape and lighting on the forehead, they add a little twist

All in all, a somewhat unorthodox and really good looking piece!

Great job for sure. I would like the black outlining in the hands in a dark blue better, but its Ok as is too. The only thing that is bothersome is the very jaggy sections especially on the pants. The simplicity of the piece is partly what makes it good as mentioned by others. Perhaps if he were standing in front of a boulder or a tree stump the jaggies could be softened. Else, the dreaded (  )AA technique.
