One thing I'd say: the donkey doesn't look like one, I thought it was a cow at first. At some stages it looked more donkeyish.

i like the whole background, and all that, but i much preffer the style of the cahracters in the older one.

Only crit is that the darkest index doesn't blend in so well with the rest of the colors, esp. on the donkey.
