A Gringo in Dubai

News Details

Blogger Chris DiClerico has been posting blog entries and Flickr photos regularly for the past few weeks about his transition to Dubai. I've been checking out Chris DiClerico's blog for some time now (great f-it-all attitude, fun links and some pixel work to boot) and now that he's moved to Dubai I've been checking in a few times a week.

DiClerico's blog covers everything from subletting his apartment and the going away party in New York to getting around firewalls in Dubai and what a Kenny Roger's Roasters sign looks like in Arabic.

I find the on-the-ground perspective of your average New Yorker in a Middle Eastern country to be really fascinating.  With all the news surrounding rising tensions in the Middle East (does the tension ever fall?) it's interesting to see how a Westerner gets acclimated. Dubai is no Sunni Triangle so don't expect any stories of guns blazing or kidnapping, but it's still a good read.

I've been writing some articles for fun in my spare time and thought it would be nice to post them here without disrupting the flow of the front page.
