Soviet Tank Found

After over 40 years of sitting at the bottom of a swamp, a T-34 Soviet tank was found.  Divers located it 9 meters down.  The site is in Russian, but I think the pictures of the removal speak for themselves.

Yeah, it was six years ago in my country. Well there have been found tanks before too. Its strange to think that Eastern-Europe is so strange place for westerns that news like this come to place like this. Most of the western people don't even know where Estonia is situated, do you?

Wait, nevermind.  The server at my school was blocking it.  It said it was a site with "adult content".  However, I don't see anything even remotely "adult".  Still, interesting pictures.

Is there anything that controversial on that site?  For some reason, I'm getting a bright red screen with a whole bunch of warnings saying that this site contravenes the Internet laws of British Colombia (which is in Canada, not a communist country, so I don't know why or how they can censor this site)

Comrade BtG speaks the truth.  Fear the old school Soviet submarine-tank bourgeois scum.

Here is the English version of the story with a few extra photos: [linky]

I love stories like this, when the history is stumbled upon and re-discovered. Great find!

its always amazed me that the germans built machines that could stand against 30 times their number in allied tanks, but were nearly incapable of traversing over mud and sand, and then sent them to russia and africa thinking they would still work.....its little wonder they had to caputre tanks just to have something for their tank crews to fight with.

sucks to be the team that survived the loss of at least one tank only to drive the 'borrowed' russian one into a swamp.

The T34 has got the German Army cross ´cause it´s a captured tank. In the russian front some tanks were captured and painted by the german army ´cause his owns tanks are destroyed or broken( the repair pieces were a few ´cause the convoys had a lot of difficults to cross the russian stepes ´cause the snow and the soviet snipers). Other tanks were captured ´cause the armour were too light in almost all german tanks to support a direct impact fron a T- series tank, and the soviet tanks had better armour and a good fire power (except Tigers and other few), also in the distance the soviets recognice it as his own tanks giving it the advantage to the german to fire the first.

Actually news like this are nothing special to us exUSSR folks. We really have stuff like this. You know, village guys finding buried bomb sites working the land in their yard and so on. :D

I'm serious.

I recognised the Sovietness by the shape of the armor.

well, judging from the modified turret and the cross that is painted on the tank, this is a 'german' T-34, captured and designated Panzerkampfwagen T-34 747(r)

just so you know =>

Soviet tank? I bet it still works after sitting in that swamp, unlike most capitalist crap would.
