Create Wii Games with UNITY

News Details


UNITY is a game creation program for creating 3D games and have recently recieved a liscense from Nintendo for their users to create their own wii games. UNITY CEO David Helgason says: "This is the product combo of our dreams, Ever since it was announced we've longed to give game developers access to the sheer creative fun of the Nintendo Wii."

Modchips have been out for a while now, so you can pretty much just burn a DVD with your game on it to test it.

Though the engine certainly looks interesting, I can't imagine this being helpful to indie developers. How would you be able to actually play your game on the Wii? It's not like you can just burn it to a DVD and stick it in... if I'm not mistaken, you'd need an actual devkit from Nintendo, and they don't just hand those out to anyone who wants to make a game for the Wii.
